Largest Outdoor Skate park in California Opens

Lake Cunningham Regional Skatepark

Lake Cunningham Regional Skatepark is reportedly the largest skatepark in California and possibly the biggest in the USA.

Boasting a hefty price tag of $4.7 million, Lake Cunningham’s Skatepark expands a whopping 68,000 square feet and includes a 22 foot tall pipe, 10 bowls and street courses for beginners to advanced skaters.

The park is open daily from 11am til 30 minutes before sunset and on weekends 9am til 30 minutes before sunset.

The entry fee is $50 per year or you can pay a per visit charge of just $2.

See the City of San Jose website for exact hours, fees and requirements.

i think the park is only about 40,000 square feet of skateable stuff. its pretty lame to include all the flat spectator area as skatepark. there are other parks in california that are bigger than this.

in the 70′s there probably were bigger parks, if i recall correctly there were, the reason is they had “snake runs” most were not well designed however and skaters tended to always have speeds that would have taken them much higher than the banks so people were always flying into adjacent runs, anaheim was one, however the one in modesto was just the opposite, the bank was scary high even by snowboarder standards, the best however and most dangerous were the illegal resiviors, I rode the santa barbara t-bowl, just once, one huge friggn bowl, on one wall you were 15 feet up on a ledge and then you had to thread the needle between stairs at the bottom to make a re entry, no park today is as fast or dangerous (btw, sims was seen to crank on the “upper wall” above the ledge the total depth of the bowl was well over 20 feet of near vertical–save for the ledge)

never the less the san jose park clearly gets two thumbs up–i would have never known but my nephew just cranked there

    happy skating
